Just a reminder that permission forms and the $5 fee must be turned in by Friday November 21 for the Turkey Trot taking place on Monday November 24. No students will be allowed to stay if they have not turned in either. Also, attached you will find concession prices. We suggest that you put their concession money in an envelope labeled "concession money" on Monday morning and have them keep it in their backpack.

Carter's Valley Elementary School honored our “Super”intendent last week by challenging our students to bring in 150 cans or non perishables for our school systems Family Resource Center. We know things are tough and holidays are in our sight, so why not give to a good cause and help those who are a part of our Hawkins County family. Mr. Hixson leads with dedication, and has a vision of what’s ahead for our students. He cares about his staff and encourages us to encourage one another. HCS Delay Alert: Due to freezing temps and precipitation overnight, Hawkins County Schools will operate on a two hour delay, Tuesday, November 11, 2025. The weather will be evaluated early Tuesday to determine if further changes are required. Please watch for any additional updates.

What is the difference in truancy and chronically absent?
Chronically absent counts all absences: excused, unexcused, and suspensions and has a high negative impact on school success. Students who miss more than 10% of the school year are considered chronically absent.
Truancy is unexcused absences only. Families who continue to be truant will be required to attend a meeting with school officials and possibly a court appearance.

Trunk or treat Oct 31. Inside school due to weather. Please arrive at 8:00 am to set up your booth. Only those setting up a booth will be permitted inside. If you have an extra table please bring with you.
Trunk or Treat will take place on 10/31 during the school day. Students may wear costumes (see our rules, please). This will now be taking place inside due to forecast. If you have signed up to have a booth, please arrive at the front (car rider) door at 8 am Friday to set up.
If you would like to sponsor a booth please call the office. We are also taking candy donations.

Second Harvest Food Distribution Tuesday, October 28. Cherokee High School in the football field parking log from 10:00am to 10:45am. Volunteer High School in the football field parking lot (enter on Volunteer Blvd.) from 1pm to 2pm. No preregistration necessary.
