In 1993, I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Construction Engineering from East Tennessee State University. In 1997, I was hired by Hawkins County Board of Education and began my teaching career in fifth grade at McPheeter's Bend Elementary. In July of 2000, I received my Master of Arts degree in Reading. Then in August 2001, I transferred to Mount Carmel Elementary and continued my teaching career in fifth grade. In July of 2008, I received my Educational Specialist degree in Leadership and Administration. Then in August of 2010, I became part of a faculty, who would have the honor of opening a brand new school, CHIS. During my time at CHIS, I taught fifth and sixth grade ELA, RTI teacher, and three years at the assistant principal. I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve the students, staff, and parents of Carter's Valley Elementary as your principal.
My husband's name is Jeff. I have a daughter, Alexandra, and a son-in-law, Tyler. When I'm not at school, I love going home to visit my family in Honaker, VA or Alexandra and Tyler in Knoxville, fly fishing with Jeff on the Watauga River, or finding a beautiful place to hike. I love to read and watch a good movie on rainy or cold winter days. Jeff and I attend Christ Fellowship Church and volunteer in a variety of ways. My heart is to use my gifts and talents to serve others and to have a positive impact on the people I meet.
