It is hard to believe, but I have been a teacher at Carters Valley Elementary for the last ten years. Before that, I also served as assistant principal at Carters Valley for four years. I actually began my teaching career at McPheeters Bend Elementary, the elementary school that I attended as a student many years ago. I taught there for five years before moving to Carters Valley. One interesting fact about my first year at McPheeters Bend is I had Ms. Turnmire, one of our third grade teachers, as a student. Wow! Time flies by!
Most of my family and I have lived in and around McPheeters Bend, Mount Carmel, and Church Hill area all of our lives. My dad's side of the family lived in a little hollow next to Goshen Valley. My mom's side of the family lived in Church Hill where they ran a small store in Church Hill.
I currently live in Mount Carmel with my four kids who are all beginning college this fall. My kids are special in that they are made up of two sets of twins: identical girl twins and fraternal twins (that means a boy and a girl). My household also includes three cats and three goldfish.
When I graduated from Volunteer High School, I attended and graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor's in Science in Environmental Health. I worked for the Department of Environment and Conservation for three years before returning to school again at ETSU. I earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education. I also have an Education Specialist Degree from Lincoln Memorial University.
