About Mrs. Beyersdorf

My name is Julie Beyersdorf and this is my first year at Carter's Valley Elementary. I am very excited to be the school counselor and am looking forward to getting to know the students, families, and staff. I have lived in Northeast Tennessee for the past 8 years and received my masters and undergraduate degrees at ETSU.

Before moving here, my family has lived in Florida, Kansas, and Georgia. We have loved having the opportunity to live in different parts of the country but have decided to make Tennessee our home. Tennessee has been a wonderful fit for us and I am always looking for new places to visit.

I have many things I love to do, but if I had to choose my favorites, they would include: hiking, camping, reading, and traveling to new places.

My hope for this year is that everyone has a wonderful school year and that each student looks forward to coming to school every day excited about learning.

Roles and Responsibilities

As the school counselor, I will be teaching guidance classes to all grades on a biweekly basis. My classes will focus on personal safety and care, social norms, core values, and the importance of academic success. I will also meet with students and families as needed. Confidentiality is of the upmost importance in regards to my role as a school counselor, so if you have any concerns, please know that you can come to me.

In addition to my counseling position, I will be assisting students with keyboarding, as well as working with teachers and students in the classroom.
